What is Ultraviolet light?

UV-C disinfection is often used with other technologies (swimming pool chlorinator) as a multi prong approach to ensure whatever pathogen is not “killed” by the filtering method is inactivated by another (UV-C) Oxy-Sal Powerhead.
(UV-C) is a disinfection method that uses short wave light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions.
All bacteria and viruses tested to date (over hundreds of years) respond to UV-C disinfection.

Is the system ECO friendly?
Absolutely! UV light disinfects without chemicals or harmful by-products. Additionally, the Oxy-Sal UV System uses LEDs and is RoHS compliant, making disposal less harmful than other water systems.
Can I use it without a salt/mineral chlorinator?
Yes. If you want to use the Oxy-Sal UV System somewhere that does not have a chlorinator, such as a pond, water feature, or spa, it will work perfectly. All the UV Powerhead requires to function is a pump and power source.
Why is this system different to UV tube systems on the market?
LEDs are simply more efficient.
They last longer and use less power to do the same job, all while being the cheaper option. Unlike UV tubes, they have no mercury or heavy metals present, and thus have a safer and easier disposal.
Additionally, standard UV tube products have to slow down the flow of water to maintain effectiveness, which causes build-up on the tube that must be regularly cleaned. The Oxy-Sal UV System sanitises water while maintaining your filtration system’s natural water speed, greatly reducing build-up and thus reducing maintenance.
The Oxy-Sal UV System provides a ‘set it and forget it’ experience you just won’t find with the short-lifespan, high-maintenance designs of UV tube sanitation systems.
Can I use the OXY-SAL UV System to sanitise water other than swimming pool water?
Definitely. Our system works the same on spas and water features; anywhere there is a pump present and you want safe and healthy water, the Oxy-Sal UV System is a good addition. If you want to operate the Oxy-Sal UV System without a chlorinator power source, we supply a waterproof transformer.
